What are the differences between dogs and wolves? Because all dogs have descended from wolves, they have a few similar characteristics such as their sense of smell and sometimes their behaviour. However, because dogs have been domesticated by humans for so many years their similarities are diminishing. Examples of dogs being domesticated can be seen in their ears. The vast majority of dogs nowadays have floppy ears and a short snout. These characteristics are only found in wolf puppies. However, some dogs still have a similar physical appearance to wolves such as huskies and German Shepard dogs. Also all wolves have bright yellow eyes and this eye colour in dogs is very rare. Usually dogs have blue or browned coloured eyes.
